Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority clarifies UK-bought travel insurance unaffected by EU ban

Following the European Union Public announcement of 3rd June 2025 regarding the inclusion of Tanzanian-registered airlines on the European Union (EU) Air Safety List, the Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority (TCAA) was asked with clarifying the status for travellers from the UK. Here's their response, dated 20th July 2025 >>

TCAA was audited (not the airlines themselves) with the EU, with some observations made, of which most have been addressed.

There is no restriction on using Tanzania airlines as long as you are not flying to European (EU) countries. Currently there is no Tanzania airline flying to Europe.

"I take this opportunity to assure you and the travelling public that [The Tanzanian] Aviation industry is safe and will continue to be safe, regardless of the EU observations", stated Furaha Sanga, Chief Airworthiness Inspector at TCAA.

Sanga also emphasised that Tanzania has very experienced operators who have been shocked by the EU decision, taking into account the investment they have put in place to enhance safety for a very long time. "Safety is our commitment in partnership"
