Cookson Adventures Exclusive London Screening - Elephants, Conservation and New Horizons for Angolan Tourism

On Wednesday evening at the Bulgari Hotel, Knightsbridge, the travel and conservation community gathered for an exclusive event hosted by Cookson Adventures to mark the launch of its film‑production arm, Cookson Productions.

The centrepiece of the evening was a private screening of ‘A Land for Giants’ a powerful new documentary chronicling the recent translocation of 26 elephants from Namibia to the Cuatir Nature Reserve in Angola - a landmark moment for wildlife conservation and a clear signal that Angola is back in the spotlight.

The event drew a distinguished audience: tour operators, media, conservation partners and key representatives from the Angola diplomatic and tourism community, including the Embassy of Angola’s Press & Cultural Counsellor, Antonio de Sousa Simbo, and Angola Tourism UK Director, Tim Henshall. Their presence underscored the significance of Angola's resurgence on the global nature‑tourism stage.

Tim Henshall, UK Trade Director for Angola Tourism, said:

“This evening, Angola stepped out of the shadows and into the spotlight. The return of elephants to Cuatir is more than a conservation success - it’s a powerful testament to Angola’s resilience and natural wealth. We are ready to welcome discerning travellers seeking authentic wildlife, untouched landscapes and a country rebuilding its ecological legacy.”

Antonio de Sousa Simbo, Press & Cultural Counsellor at the Embassy of Angola, added:

“Watching the herd arrive at Cuatir is witnessing history in the making. Angola lost much of its wildlife during years of conflict, but today we reclaim a part of our heritage. This film shows the world that Angola is a destination reborn - rich in biodiversity, beauty and promise.”

The screening delivered a stirring conservation message: that Angola is not only capable of restoring its wildlife, but also of providing world‑class experiences for travellers who value responsible, impactful tourism. Angola’s diverse geography - from deserts and savannahs to forests, and some 1,600 km of Atlantic coastline - offers unmatched variety for visitors.

Meanwhile, renewed investment from Angola’s tourism authorities is opening the door to sustainable, high-end travel experiences in a country rebounding after decades of challenges.

With this event, Cookson Adventures positions Angola as a premier safari and nature‑tourism destination. Guests will soon be able to explore Cuatir’s recovering ecosystem, see elephants roaming free again, and experience Angola’s landscapes and culture - responsibly and authentically.

About Angola

Angola is Africa's magnificent secret, a country of jaw-dropping contrasts and untamed beauty in the heart of Southern Africa. As the continent's sixth-largest nation, Angola dazzles with landscapes that shift from lush rainforests to dramatic desert expanses, from thundering waterfalls to 1,600 kilometres of pristine Atlantic coastline.

This is a land shaped by powerful kingdoms and complex history, where the ancient Kingdom of Congo once held sway and Portuguese colonial influence left an indelible mark. The capital, Luanda, is a dynamic Atlantic gateway where African vitality, Portuguese heritage, and indigenous traditions create an intoxicating urban energy. Here, the music never stops - semba, kizomba, and kuduro provide the soundtrack to a city that's cosmopolitan, creative, and utterly captivating.

With its rallying cry "Visit Angola – The Rhythm of Life," the destination calls to explorers, nature enthusiasts, and culture seekers who refuse to follow the crowd. For those who want to experience Africa as few have seen it - raw, authentic, and profoundly moving - Angola represents truly virgin territory.
